Armando Galarraga Goes Into 6th With No-Hitter

Placido Polanco's bat coming alive

Armando Galarraga was quietly effective again for the third straight outing. He pitched 6 good innings before falling apart, but as it stands he has a 1.50 ERA and is 2-0. He actually had a no-no going into the 6th, but like Leyland says, when he gets tired, he gets tired quick. I just hope they don’t send this guy down after Willis gets off the DL.

Polanco has finally started hitting again. After struggling for the first 20 games, he seems to be recovering from his back pain and seeing the ball again. Now if they would just put Sheffield on the DL and bring Clete Thomas back up, this line-up would be in tip-top shape.

The win was very important. If they can win game 3 and take the series, they will have put themselves in a good position to go down this tough stretch coming up. After sweeping the Rangers, taking 2 out of 3 from the Angels would work just fine. I didn’t expect them to sweep the Angels anyway - they’re too good.
