Tigers Keep Rolling but Sabathia Lifts the Tribe

Well, at this point in the year all you can do is keep winning, which Detroit has done now for the last 4 games. Unfortunately, Cleveland and New York aren’t so bad themselves. Of course Cleveland was going to win with the probable Cy Young winner on the mound, but it would have been nice to see New York stumble, to feel like we are gaining ground, rather that just not losing any.
Timo Perez Still Shining
Timo Perez - Tigers new weapon
Oh well. One surprising bright spot has been the emergence of Timo Perez. This guy is hitting like someone fighting for a spot on a playoff roster (bye-bye Cameron Maybin). He added 3 more hits today to bring his average up to .429. That, to go along with a couple of spectacular plays in the field only add to his value right now, as the Tigers desperately need the fresh blood.

I wouldn’t expect to see Cameron Maybin get too many more swings this year. Granderson is going to have to finally face his demon’s with the lefties. With Magglio, Timo and Grandy in the outfield – things look alot better than they did a couple of weeks ago. Now they just have to claw their way back in this thing, and they will be hard to beat if they make it to the playoffs.

With Laffey pitching for Cleveland Sunday, the Angels should be able to help the Tigers some more. But Detroit is going to have to do their part. Bonderman will have his work cut-out for him because Detroit is not going to score 12 runs tomorrow. It sure would be nice to “only” be back 4 games on Monday. I’d even accept a Lions loss to the Raiders in exchange for that one.
