Verlander Strong Again

The thing that is so amazing about this kid, is how much better he has gotten over his last few starts. Granted, a month ago he was horrid. But once they corrected the flaws in his pitching mechanics, he has gotten better and better.
In his last start, he lasted almost 130 pitches. In this one he was much more efficient. The Tigers do not want him to throw 130 pitches. They want him to do what he did today; 8 solid innings allowing one run and not giving up a single walk. That is the definition of a workhorse.
They needed to open up with a win against Seattle. They need a whole lot more, but this’ll do for now. Helping matters, the Indians lost again to the only team hotter than them - The Angels. The Yankees were held to only 3 runs for a change, but still managed to beat KC. So now it is 5 GB of Cleveland and 3 GB of NY for the wildcard. Too bad Sabathia is pitching for the Tribe tomorrow. The best we can hope for is to win so as not to lose ground.
