Kenny Rogers Returns

Kenny Rogers is back. He looked pretty good, throwing strikes and having good location. It looked like Leyland wanted to ease him back in the rotation, and that was probably the right thing to do. In his 5 innings pitched, he only gave up 2 hits, and the bullpen came in and held the White Sox to 2 more for the rest of the game. Although they can’t seem to score against Chicago for some reason, they managed to squeak this one out in the 11th with an Inge double and Timo Perez RBI.
Is it too little, too late? We’ll know for sure in 3 weeks. The one thing that is almost certain, is that Detroit will not catch Cleveland. The Indians do have to play four against the Angels, but I don’t see them losing all 4, which is basically what Detroit would need if they had any chance of catching them.
The Yankees have been teeing off on Seattle, which hasn’t helped either. Maybe with Sheffield coming back to the line-up today we’ll see Detroit go on a run. But at this point they’re going to need alot of help from the Yankees or the Indians if we’re going to see them in October.
