Bonderman didn’t pitch all that well - not as bad as he had been a month ago, but not nearly as well as his last two starts either. So that didn’t help. Zach Miner came in and shut the Sox down. Great. But once again, they failed to put the pieces together. On a day where the pitching was at least servable, the hitting was scattered and unproductive.
I’ve stopped looking at what the Indians are doing. Why? Because they have forgotten how to lose. Detroit is losing enough for both of them. It doesn’t matter that Detroit still has a 3-game set against them in a couple of weeks. Nobody in their right mind would think The Tigers are going to sweep that series. And it wouldn’t matter if they did. They are too far back.
Detroit will never catch the Indians this year.
So we have to look to the Wild Card. Good news - Seattle was trounced! But…it was at the hands of the Yankees, so it doesn’t help.
3.5 back of the Yankees with 20+ games to go. I guess there is always hope.
